1. Scream 4: 

 


  • The film Scream 4 is the fourth movie out of the Scream franchise, and it takes place about a decade after the original plotline. The antagonist, “Ghostface” returns to Woodsboro, where the film takes place after the original survivor and protagonist, Sidney Prescot, comes back. The killer is revealed to be Sidney’s cousin, Jill Roberts who was after fame and she received help from her friend Charlie Walker. They turned out to both be “Ghostface” at a house party, and it was a huge shock. This turn of events with having someone close to one of the main characters betray them and be the killer was very impactful towards the film opening I am creating. Since I, alongside Gia and Isabel wanted to target a younger generation, we needed typical teen activities to be shown. Inspiration was gotten from the house party and converted it to a birthday party. Going along with the theme of the female killer, it was decided that the death of “Ella” should also have something to do with a slasher film. Ultimately, Scream 4’s plot line was a grand inspiration to our opener.

2. Jennifer’s Body: 

  • This movie is a film about a teenage girl that was sacrificed by an indie rock band. A satanic ritual was performed to “make the band famous” and it ends up going wrong. The girl becomes a ghost and eventually haunts the boys in the band to stay relevant and powerful. The main reasons inspiration was gotten from this film were how it went against the typical conventions exhibited in the thriller genre. In the movie, the protagonist is a female named Jennifer Check, which is unusual in this genre since the main character is usually a male. The lead in the opener I am helping create, Julie, is also a female. Julie’s personality and appearance are subtly inspired by Jennifer’s Body. Her personality traits are confident, flirty, and bold. She’s dressed in jeans, has a heart shaped necklace on her, and her makeup is done in a way that resembles Jennifer’s. Finally, Julie’s good friend, Ella, is slightly inspired by Needy, who is Jennifer’s best friend. They are both blonde, sweet, and have a boyfriend who the protagonist is jealous of. Overall, these conventions and characters from Jennifer’s Body played an impactful role in our creative process for my opener.

 Post-Production - Film Opener                                                                               Filming Process       For the film opener, the set days to film were Feb. 1 st  and Feb 3 rd . My group  ended up needing to film both days since we ran out of time on the  1 st .
